At least 80 percent of small businesses in Russia are engaged in trade. The government of the country has begun a campaign to increase and promote small-scale businesses oriented toward industrial production.

At least 80 percent of small businesses in Russia are engaged in trade. The government of the country has begun a campaign to increase and promote small-scale businesses oriented toward industrial production. The Ministry of Industry and Power has come forward with a proposal that the government should extend subsidies to such enterprises in the form of waiving 50 percent of certification expenditures when a small business applies under the ISO-9000 standard. The Ministry of Trade and Economy in its turn suggests that the government should invest in infrastructure development, the creation of special economic zones and business incubators.
