During 2009, the production of mineral resources went down by 1.2 percent. Processing industries witnessed a 16 percent decline. The production and distribution of electricity, water, and gas for commercial and consumer uses dropped by 4.9 percent.
The production of oil and gas condensate in the country increased by 1.2 percent to 494 million tons. The production of gas went down by 12.1 percent, leveling off at 584 billion cubic meters. The production of coal decreased by 9.2 percent to 298 million tons. While the mining of iron ore decreased 8.1 percent to 92 million tons, gold production increased by 5.4 percent.

The production of vodka and liquors decreased by 7.3 percent to 113 million dekalitres, beer production went down by 4.8 percent to 1.1 billion dekalitres.
