Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has proposed visa-free travel between Russia and the United States.

“If Russia and the United States agree on visa-free travel before Russia and the European Union make a similar decision, that would be an historic step,” he told U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.

Biden said that it was a good idea.

The move “would have crushed the old stereotypes in the relations between Russia and the United States,” Putin said.

“We would have closed a very significant page in our past and started everything anew,” he said, adding that the move would have created a totally new moral atmosphere in the Russian-U.S. relationship.
