Russia first reached 505 million tons in annual production in 2010

Russian Prime Minsiter Vladimir Putin has given instructions to speed up all decision-making activities for starting the construction of a modern oil refinery in the Primorsk krai, which will be able to produce up to 10 million tons of product annually.

“The active development of our eastern oil and gas province is underway. Russia first reached 505 million tons in annual production in 2010. At the same time, the increase in oil production was achieved thanks to the introduction of Eastern Siberian fields such as Vankor, Talakanskoye, and Verkhnechonskoye,” Putin said at a meeting in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on the development of the fuel and energy sector in Russia’s Far East.

He said that it is important that Russia not only produce crude oil and gas in the Far East, but also develop advanced refining capabilities with a deep conversion capacity along with a modern oil and gas chemical industry.

Putin said: “I request that all decisions for starting the construction of a modern oil refinery with annual production capacity of up to 10 million tons be stepped up.”

Putin also called for the active development of production infrastructure and the use of gas-based motor fuel.
