Kaluga is first for innovation

In July 2011, the Kaluga region located in the Central Federal District was selected as the leader of Russian regions striving for innovation. The innovation rating is determined by the St. Petersburg Politics Foundation, the Russian Academy of National Economy, the President’s Public Service, as well as RBC Daily. 

Kaluga is one of the centers of Russian car manufacturing, with a number of foreign companies that operate assembly plants in the area.
