The biggest producer of vehicles for the railroad in Russia company Transmashholding entered into an agreement with RZhD Russian Railways to produce 2ES5 modern electronic locomotives designed to pull freight cars. The terms of the contract specify that the locomotives will be supplied to the rail carrier starting in 2013 through 2020. The 2ES5 model is already the second fifth generation locomotive constructed within the framework of Russia’s cooperation with France.
