Vehicle sales increase 90 percent in 6 months

The sales of new vehicles went up by 95 percent on a year-on-year basis from January to June, according to the Russian division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Imports of cars increased by 82 percent to stand at USD 13.5 billion, and the sales of Russian cars increased by 52 percent to reach USD 3.5 billion. Sales of foreign-brand vehicles assembled in Russia increased by more than two times to reach USD 10.2 billion.

Altogether, 410 thousand vehicles were brought into Russia from abroad, and 310 000 Russian cars were sold in the country. The number of foreign-brand vehicles assembled and sold in Russia in the first half of the year stands at 440 000.
