From January to July, metalworking enterprises from Russia shipped 1.268 million tons of steel to consumers and clients in Europe. This volume of supplies constitutes 38.9 percent of the quota established by the European Commission for the current year.

The quota for the supplies of metals coming from Russia was first fixed at 3.185 million metric tons, with a subsequent increase of 7 percent for the unused quota from 2009.

The Russian-E.U. trade agreement setting limits on the importation of steel was renewed in November 2010. The quota for 2011 was increased by 2.5 percent in relation to the figure in effect for 2011.
