Ballerina Yulia Zhmutski chosen as the best artist of 2010.
Every February, Russian-American Business magazine chooses a winner of an honorary recognition and an extraordinary acknowledgement plaque for the artist of the year. Last year’s nominees included individuals from the film, music, and art industries and world renowned writers. This year’s winner was a young Russian ballerina Yulia Zhmutski.
Russian-American Business honorary recognition committee has a certain selection criteria to choose the winner. The artist of the year should posses an astonishing talent that impacts people internationally. The candidate should be well known and publicly recognized for his or her art. In 2009 Yulia Zhmutski was recognized in countless American magazines and newspapers. She won two top dance awards from “Destined-2-Dance” in the Fall of 2009 – The Most Technical Ballet Instructor and The Best Foreign and Cultural Dance. She has been featured on several magazine covers and performed at numerous major art, film, and dance festivals and venues. The U.S.-Russia Civil Society Institute has recognized Ms. Zhmutski as the Most Promising Modern Ballet Artist of 2009. In January of 2010, Ms. Zhmutski was elected to lead the organization of American Ballet Society as its president.
Ms. Zhmutski is a member of American Ballet Theatre (America’s National Ballet Company), a member/participant of International Ballet Association (USA IBC, “Olympic Style” competition), a member and a friend of the School of American Ballet (established by legendary choreographer George Balanchine and philanthropist Lincoln Kristein). Yulia Zhmutski is a chief choreographer and a lead soloist at Julia’s Academy of International Dance in Norman, Oklahoma. She has more than 100 dance students in the disciplines of Classical Ballet, Modern Ballet, Middle Eastern Dance, International All-In-One Dance, and her own developed dance style called Expressive Ballet.
