The revenue from sales of Alrosa under Russian accounting standards increased by a whole 90 percent on a year-on-year basis during the first three quarters. The total figure was RUR 75 463 billion. The cost of production increased by 63 percent to RUR 38.557 billion. Gross profit increased by 140 percent to RUR 36.905 billion. The company’s net profit in the first nine months of the year came to RUR 6.412 billion. One year ago, Alrosa posted losses of RUR 8.811 billion.
The sales of rough diamonds brought in 96.2 percent of the company’s revenue. With respect to the geographic distribution of sales, exports comprised 72.6 percent of the revenue, while domestic supplies accounted for 27.4 percent. The sales of cut diamonds comprised 3.8 percent of total revenue. The largest shares of processed diamonds were destined for Belgium, India, as well as Israel. The sales of cut diamonds on Russia’s internal market accounted for only 1.7 percent of sales.
Altogether, Alrosa intends to finish the year with USD 3.417 billion worth of diamonds sold. The Russian company is the largest producer of diamonds in the world by carats extracted. In the first half of the current year, production was 16.6 million carats.
