The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has added American Express to its payment system register.

American Express can be divided into two major groups. The operations, settlements, and payment clearances are all managed by the American Express Bank, whereas the actual operational center is controlled by American Express Limited. The American Express Bank is based in Moscow, and the American Express Limited is operated from Brighton, United Kingdom. However, AmEx’s business address is in New York.

Currently, the register contains detailed information on twenty-eight different payment systems that belong to twenty-seven operators. Among these operators are MasterCard and Visa, which got listed there in December of 2012.
