Baltic Shipyard builds a new icebreaker

The Rosatom Commission confirmed the Baltic plant as the chief contractor under a shipbuilding contract for the construction of an atomic icebreaker of the new generation with the capacity of 60 megawatts.

The amount of contract financing is 36.959 billion roubles. Under the contract, Baltic Shipyard has up to December 30, 2017 to build an icebreaker on a turn-key basis and to place it on water at the port of Atomflot in Murmansk. In line with an approved schedule, the vessel’s first test launch on water will take place in November 2015.
