Cargill is a famous food producer in Russia that also provides products and services related to the agricultural, the industrial, and the financial sector. The company’s latest accomplishment is the launch of a new chicken processing facility in Efremov, Russia. An amount of almost USD40 million was invested to complete this project.
The facility is located at Cargill’s industrial complex, which is 300 kilometers south from the Moscow region. The goods produced will be supplied to all McDonald’s branches in Russia. Chicken McNuggets will probably be the prime product, but there will be others as well.
Jeremy Graves, the general manager of the European Cargill Meat subunit said that Cargill has had a strong relationship with McDonald’s for many years. Recently, it became vital for McDonald’s to obtain its supplies from local processing facilities in Russia, and so Cargill was extremely pleased to help out. The two companies worked together and came up with a practical solution.
The new chicken facility houses over 140 employees and can produce 18,000 metric tons of chicken annually. All the products are processed using the latest technologies and exhibit the highest quality. Cargill believes that this new plant will prove to be a valuable addition to the company’s other businesses that are already operating in the region.
At this time, Cargill operates a corn and wheat production plant, a bottling facility, a cooking oil refinery, an animal feed mill, and a malt plant in Efremov. The vegetable oil refinery already has a contract with Russia’s McDonald’s chain. The oil from the same facility will be used for producing McNuggets and hamburger patties.
