Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and U.S. Acting Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller met in Geneva on December 7, 2012 for consultations as the co-chairs of a taskforce for arms control and international security within the Russian-U.S. Presidential Commission, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
Ryabkov and Gottemoeller “discussed strategic stability, missile defense, the situation surrounding the Nunn-Lugar program, control over conventional armed forces in Europe, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), and the security of space exploration. In addition, they exchanged opinions on further improving the legal basis of bilateral relations and a number of other issues of mutual interest,” the Ministry said.
