Evraz increases steel production
Evraz Group said its steel production volumes in the third quarter of 2011 increased 4% year-on-year due to demand recovery, to 4mn metric tons. At the same time, pig iron production fell 2.7%, to 2.9mn tons.
The production of saleable coke fell 15.8% to 306 000 tons, semi-finished products 4.8% to 767 000 tons and flat-rolled products 5.8% to 609 000 tons.
The output of rolled products grew 3.8% to 3.7mn tons, construction products 10% to 1.4mn tons, railway products 15.6% to 517 000 tons, and tubular products 1.2% to 238 000 tons.
The company’s mining division increased the production of iron ore concentrate 18.9% to 1.7mn metric tons, sinter 7.7% to 1mn tons and pellets 2.9% to 1.5mn tons.
The production of coking coal fell 24% to 1.2mn metric tons, steam coal 7.5% to 889 000 tons and concentrate 12.2% to 1.4mn tons.
