ExxonMobil invites Rosneft

U.S. company ExxonMobil offers Rosneft to extend their strategic cooperation by joining a number of its projects, ExxonMobil’s Russia president, Glenn Waller, told a news conference in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, capital of the Sakhalin region in Russia’s Far East.

He said the proposal involves participation in several oil development projects, at least at the stage of exploration, adding that the projects are in the Gulf of Mexico. “The question of how many projects and how much Rosneft is interested in them is still open,” he said.

He also said Rosneft will have until the beginning of next year to decide, because ExxonMobil expects to break ground then.

The U.S. company also plans to offer Rosneft its Texas projects, Waller added.
