The legislators of the Bryansk Regional Duma approved the project to build Russia’s first plant for the production of frozen French fries and potato chips within the framework of a public-private partnership with investments of over 4.9 billion roubles. Company EkoFrio will build the industrial complex for processing potatoes in the region. It is anticipated that the plant will process up to 200 tons of potatoes per year and that annual sales will reach four billion roubles. The project will be implemented within two years, from 2012 to 2014. The size of the state’s contribution will stand at 197.5 million roubles. The payback period will be about nine years from the project’s start date.
