Ferrous metals in Russia up

In the first two quarters of 2010, the production of ferrous metal roll in Russia was up 22.8 percent according to Federal State Statistics Service. Production results for June reflected a 12.8 percent rise on a year-on-year basis. At the same time, the June figure of 5.3 million tons was 9.1 percent lower than May 2010 production. The production of pig iron increased by 23.2 percent in the first half of the year. June 2010 production totaled 3.8 million tons of pig iron, evidencing an increase of 5.6 percent compared to the results from June 2009. Steel pipe production was up 43.1 percent in the first half of the year, with over

748 000 tons produced in June (27.3 percent year-on-year growth).  The production of iron ore concentrate increased 18 percent in the first half of 2010. Results in June 2010 were 6.4 percent higher in relation to production figures for June 2009.
