Russia’s foreign debt for the year 2012 increased by 15.4 percent and by January 1, 2013 was estimated by the Bank of Russia at USD623.963 billion. In the fourth quarter of 2012, external debt increased by 4.9 percent.
Governmental bodies for the year increased their foreign debt by 28.9 percent to USD44.721 billion. Banks increased their external debt by 28 percent to USD208.368 billion. Companies in the non-banking sector increased borrowing by 7.4 percent to USD356.097 billion. The external debt of Russia’s monetary regulation agencies from January to September increased by 28 percent to USD14.777 billion.
