Russia’s gas giant, Gazprom and Ukraine’s Naftogaz gas company may establish a joint venture on a parity basis, Alexei Miller, head of Gazprom, said during a meeting with Ukraine’s Fuel and Energy Minister Yury Boyko. “Now it is necessary to define and list assets that could be contributed by both sides to the venture,” Miller noted. A merger between Gazprom and Naftogaz was proposed by Vladimir Putin during an April meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Nikolay Azarov.
