Gunvor Group acquired a 10-percent stake in the Transalpine pipeline (TAL), according to the company’s announcement. The transalpine pipeline passes through Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic. TAL provides crude oil to the refinery in Ingolstadt, which is owned by Gunvor. After Gunvor joined the pipeline consortium, the shareholder ownership structure of the TAL pipeline company is such that OMV owns 25 percent, Shell owns 24 percent, Ruhr Oel owns 11 percent, Eni owns 10 percent, BP owns 9 percent, ExxonMobil owns 6 percent, ConocoPhillips owns 3 percent, Total owns 2 percent, and Gunvor owns 10 percent. Gunvor is the fifth largest oil trader in the world. The company was founded in 1997 and is registered in Zug, Switzerland. 90 percent of Gunvor is owned on a parity basis by Gunvor Group CEO Torbjorn Tornqvist and Gennadiiy Timchenko. Gunvor’s trust fund for management incentives holds the remaining 10-percent stake of the company.
