Limited Test Ban Treaty

The month of August 2013 marks the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Limited Test Ban Treaty treaty, which put a ban on nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, under water, and in outer space. The U.N. celebrates this achievement so that all the countries across the globe strive to reach an important goal, which is the complete renunciation of the development, storage, and use of nuclear weapons.

The treaty, signed in August 1963, was an agreement between the Soviet Union, the U.S., and the U.K.
