Home away from home
Fifteen years in a row I have been staying at the magnificent and romantic Marco Polo Presnya hotel during my travels to Moscow. The hotel is located in a prestigious neighborhood near Patriarch’s Pond, an historic and quite place in the center of Moscow. It was on the street adjacent to the hotel building that the great Russian novelist Mikhail Bulgakov wrote his world-famous The Master and Margarita.
At no time have I encountered the same atmosphere of tranquility that I discovered at the Marco Polo hotel. One is able to leave the crazy circle of modern life behind and enter an oasis of calmness, warmth, and hospitality that are the hallmarks of Marco Polo. “Home away from home” is the everlasting motto of the hotel. The high class of service is, of course, in large measure the achievement of the hotel’s director, a rare professional in the hotel industry Boris Stasyuk.
It is not accidental that the most elite guests from all over the world gather here – movie stars, writers, famous businessmen. All are attracted by that extraordinary air of joyfulness that touches every single person in a special way. A man can suddenly feel happy. Boris Stasyuk himself is the epitome of cheerfulness and excitement. Many people say this man of inimitable Russian, European, and American charm literally radiates warmth, and that his good mood is contagious. It seems that every person working at the hotel wishes to bring joy especially to you. The breakfasts provided at Marco Polo are chef-d’oeuvres of the culinary art. No matter who you are, an American, a European, a Russian, an Australian, or even an extraterrestrial, you will be glad to have breakfast at the hotel and will remember it forever. The best coffee, the best tea, the best fruits and vegetables, the best salami and cheeses, the freshest bakery products in the world, and the best Russian fat-free bread are served here. The kasha and omelets served at Marco Polo are also fantastic.
The hotel also has the elegant Don Pedro cafe. This is a place for gourmets, for connoisseurs of wonderful wines – it is perfect for romantic rendezvous’. You become a prisoner of Russian and French music. The food, the glasses, and the eyes radiate happiness. One also must note that the prices are quite reasonable.
If there had been no Marco Polo hotel in Moscow, my visits to the Russian capital would not be as frequent and, certainly, much less joyful.
My advice to everyone who believes in a dream is to visit the Marco Polo Presnya hotel. There you will remember my words and thank me for the recommendation.
