In the second quarter, the net profit of telecommunications company Vimpelcom Ltd., which includes Russian OJSC VimpelCom (operating the Beeline brand), under U.S. GAAP totaled USD488mln, a figure that is 1.8 times more than the net profit during the same period of 2011 (USD267 million), the company said.

The revenue of Vimpelcom in the second quarter was USD5.745 billion, a decrease of about four percent compared to the same period of the previous year (USD6.011 billion). The EBITDA was USD2.481 billion, up two percent over the same figure of the previous year.
