The Transportation Ministry published the draft of the government’s proposal to expand the boundaries of the sea port of Novorossiysk by adding to the port the land for the construction of a terminal for oil product exports with the capacity of 11 million tons per year.
The initiator of the construction company Neftegazindustriya plans to place the terminal near Cape Foam in Tsemess Bay. The terminal will allow transshipping seven million tons of diesel fuel and four million tons of gasoline or heating oil. The estimated number of vessels to be serviced by the new port is 181 annually. Oil products delivery mechanisms will be built at the Afipsky refinery pipelines. The Afipsky refinery was acquired by Neftegazindustriya from Deripaska. It is planned to construct a 3.5-kilometers-long tunnel to cross the Markothsky ridge.
Total investment in the project is estimated at USD1 billion.
