The Kaluga region hosted the III Obninsk Innovative Forum entitled “Pharmo-evolution: the localization of pharmaceutical production and research in Russia: practice, trends, and prospects.” The event brought together representatives of federal agencies, state development institutions, directors of 20 leading international and Russian companies, the products of which account for more than half of the Russian pharmaceutical market, the heads of regional clusters, professional associations, and universities. The Kaluga cluster combines two dozen companies, large, medium, and small, with foreign and domestic capital. The total number of companies within the cluster approaches one hundred. The companies within the cluster produce more than 50 kinds of pharmaceuticals. Already over six billion roubles has been investment in the sector.
