Alexis Rodzianko was unanimously elected as the new president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia by the organization’s board of directors. The Chamber, also known as AmCham, was headed by Rodzianko’s predecessor Andrew Sommers since 2000. Sommers announced earlier this year of his plans to resign in order to take a different position at a consulting company.
Alexis, the great-grandson of Mikhail Rodzianko, was born in 1951. Mikhail Rodzianko has a place in Russian history for his leadership of the Octobrist party. Mikhail played an important role in Russian politics as chairman of the Third and Fourth State Dumas, the elected parliamentary branches of power. The Duma was instrumental to the functioning of the Russian state before the Bolshevik revolution.
Alexis Rodzianko relocated to Moscow in 1995, after working for Chemical Bank in New York. Other senior posts that Alexis held prior to his new appointment with AmCham include executive positions at IFC Metropol, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan.
