Post election protests

Public protests over presumed parliamentary election fraud will not affect Russia’s investment attractiveness. “It is too early to say whether the fluctuations of our stock indices were caused by the election or by jitters around the Euro Zone,” said Deputy Economic Development Minister Andrei Klepach.

“We believe that the markets will eventually respond rather positively to the fact that a direction will be determined in some or other way and the continuity will be preserved,” he said. “After all, many investors have positive expectations about the Russian economy. Everyone estimates its growth potential fairly high, especially compared to the situation in the Euro Zone and the growing risks in China. We have a good development potential, and it will be up to the new government to cash on it.”
