Russia this year will produce 3.5 million tons of poultry meat (slaughtered weight), which is 10.3 percent more than the statistics for the previous year. This forecast was made at a meeting in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on the implementation of the program for the development of the poultry industry in 2009-2012, and the plan for the development of the sector up to 2020 in view of Russia’s accession to the WTO. As the president of Rosptitsesoyuz Vladimir Fisinin noted, in the six months of this year, an increase of poultry meat production stood at 220.7 thousand tons. The increase in egg production was 610 million units.

In total figures, egg production this year will increase by 1.2 percent to 41.5 billion eggs. This year, federal budgetary allocations for the maintenance of breeding stock were 164.5 million roubles against 134.2 million roubles in 2011.
