Release of Khodorkovsky poses no threat

Igor Sechin, the president of Rosneft, assured the media that his company is not under and risk from possible legal proceedings associated with the release of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who was in charge of the former Yukos oil company. Rosneft, which purchased the assets of Yukos, is not foreseeing any extraordinary changes and has been through the litigation process before.

Yukos Capital SARL is now suing Samarneftegaz, the former Yukos subsidiary, in New York. The latter company was acquired by Rosneft. Yukos Capital is attempting to get USD186 million. An Amsterdam court is now considering whether to take a claim against Rosneft by Yukos International UK BV. The claimant seeks to recover USD333 million, as well as interest.
