Company RusNano is making plans to provide funds for the development of the electronic components for microelectromechanical systems that can be utilized in sensors, computing, and telecommunications equipment.
The Russian government-controlled nanotechnological conglomerate will join efforts with the American company SiTime Corp. that has created microelectromechanical silicon-based timing mechanisms.
RusNano has made a commitment to provide from USD 15 million to USD 22 million for the project. The funds will be utilized for extending SiTime technological capabilities, as well as expanding the company’s access to markets abroad. The framework of the project provides for the establishment of a research and development center within Russia, where new platform microelectromechanical oscillators will enter production.
In the end, the Russian-American joint venture will provide precise frequency generator applications that would be vital in the fields of telecommunications, computing, navigation, and weather monitoring.
