Russian advertising market grew

In 2012, the growth rate of the Russian advertising market slowed to 13 percent from 21 percent in 2011, according to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (ACAR).

The total market value of the advertising material disseminated stood at 297.8 billion roubles, excluding VAT, which is 13 percent more than in 2011.

The fastest growing segment is Internet advertising, which showed an increase of 35 percent and reached 56.3 billion roubles. In 2011, the increase in the market volume of Internet advertising was 56 percent. The sales of targeted online ads grew by 45 percent to 38.4 billion roubles, and the sales of banners increased by 17 percent to 17.9 billion roubles. In 2011, the market volume for targeted online ads increased by 63 percent, and the market volume for banner ads rose by 45 percent.
