In 2013, the sales of mobile phones on the Russian market will increase by about three percent, while the share of smartphones will increase to about fifty percent of the number of phones sold, according to the president of Euroset Alexander Malis.
Based on Euroset data, 42 million mobile phones were sold in Russia in 2012, which is 5.8 percent more than in the previous year. The sales of regular cell phones fell by nine percent to 29.2 million units, while the sale of smartphones increased 69 percent to 12.8 million units.
In 2013, the share of smartphone sales in relation to overall sales is expected to reach 45 to 50 percent. In 2012, that figure stood at 30 percent, according to Mr. Malis. The smartphone market will grow by about 25 percent in terms of quantity and 14 percent in terms of value.
The average price of smartphones sold will decrease to about eight thousand roubles over 2013. According to Euroset, the average price of a smartphone in 2012 fell by 5.6 percent to 10.5 thousand roubles.
