Star Media wins at a Houston film festival

Extraterrestrial, a film of a Russian-Ukrainian company Star Media received one of the highest honors and a grand prix award at the 41st Worldfest Houston independent film festival.

The festival’s director Hunter Todd said that the film received high jury assessment and generated great interested on the part of the audience.

The film is based on true events. Even though the film is not a documentary, the storyline incorporated actual events that have taken place in the town of Kishtim, Chelyabinsk region, Russia, in 1996. The local people discovered mummified remains of an unusual humanoid creature.  The literary work of writer Yuriy Golichenko also was used to develop the script. The motion picture’s director is Sergei Krutin. The actors include Sergei Batalov, Yuriy Stepanov, Lina Budnik, Vitaliy Linetskiy, and Larisa Shahvorostova.

In 2007, at the 32nd International Television Festival in Bulgaria, Extraterrestrial received an award for the best work of the director.

Vlad Riashyn, chairman of the board of directors of Star Media was not able to come to Houston for the gala presentation to receive the company’s award – a Remi statuette. On behalf of the president of Worldfest, the prize was hand-delivered to Star Media’s executives in Kiev by the leader of the Spiritual Diplomacy Foundation Mikhail Morgulis.
