Steel production in Russia in 2012

According to the data released by the Federal State Statistics Service, steel production in Russia in 2012 increased by 3.3 percent, reaching 70.4 million tons. Pig iron production increased by 5.2 percent to 50.5 million tons.

In December, crude steel production in Russia was 5.6 million tons. Iron production was 4.1 million tons. As such, crude steel production increased 0.8 percent compared to the November figure, while iron production increased by one percent.

The production of ferrous metals for the year increased by four percent to 61.8 million tons in 2012. A total of 2,433,000 tons of large diameter pipes was produced in Russia in 2012, which is only 77.1 percent of the output volume seen in 2011.
