Subaru, which has no production facilities in Europe, intends to build a plant in Kaliningrad. Andrey Ivoilov, the director of sales and marketing of Autoholding RRT, the official Subaru dealer in Russia, reported that representatives of Subaru filed an application with the Russian government to build a plant with the capacity of more than 25,000 cars per year. According to Ivoilov, at first, Subaru cars will be assembled in Kaliningrad at the existing Avtotor facility. SKD (semi knocked down) assembly at the plant in Kaliningrad will start in 2014. It is expected that the production line at Avtotor will release new Outback and Forester vehicles.
