TGK-9, a Russian power generation company and an affiliate of Integrated Energy Systems, or IES, has selected advanced gas turbine technology from GE for a combined-cycle plant that will supply heat and electricity for the residents of Berezniki, an industrial city in Russia’s Urals federal district.
The project supports the Russian government’s initiative to continue to modernize its energy infrastructure and to meet the country’s growing power needs. GE will supply two Frame 6FA gas turbines and associated generators plus technical assistance, on-site training and performance testing for the combined-cycle project, which is expected to produce 220 megawatts of new power for the region. The electricity will be distributed under an agreement between the Russian Ministry of Energy and IES.
