The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov and his U.S. counterpart Secretary of State John Kerry jointly endorsed and accepted the report of the Russian-U.S. Presidential Commission. The report recounts the work of 21 separate working groups as to the results attained and lays out the goals for the future.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov and John Kerry acknowledged that the endeavors of the Presidential Commission so far have been successful. Marked progress in bilateral relations has been achieved in such areas as global security, military cooperation, commerce, innovation, nuclear energy, counterterrorism operations, drug trafficking enforcement, health, space, science, and culture.
The report underscored the significance of stepping up the activities of the working groups with the eye on taking specific measures and initiatives to make Russian-American relations stronger. After the approval of the two foreign affairs officials, the report of the Presidential Commission was forwarded to Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama.
