In January 2013, the real effective exchange rate of the Russian rouble against foreign currencies rose by 1.7 percent. According to preliminary data published by the Central Bank of Russia, the rouble’s exchange rate rose by 2.9 percent against the dollar and by 0.8 percent against the euro. The nominal exchange rate for foreign currency in January rose 1.1 percent, going up by 1.6 percent against the dollar and 0.1 percent against the euro.
