The ports see increases in activity

The ports of the Russian Federation for the seven months of 2012 saw an increase in cargo transit activity of 4.7 percent in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year for a combined cargo volume of 218.9 million tons, according to the Association of Sea Commercial Ports. The volume of liquid cargo in the seven months went down in comparison with the January-July timeframe of 2011 by 0.8 percent to 175.5 million tons. Oil accounted for 111.3 million tons and petroleum products for 62.6 million tons.Total deliveries of bulk carriers rose by 12.1 percent to 143.4 million tons compared with the figures for the seven months of the previous year. The transportation of coal increased by 9.2 percent to 49.8 million tons. Containerized cargo shipments went up by 8.6 percent to reach 24.7 million tons.
