UTair, a major Russian airline, received the delivery of the first new generation Boeing 737-800 plane. The aircraft was purchased directly from the Boeing Corporation for the first time in the Russian air carrier’s history. At the present time, the airline has 40 new generation Boeing 737 aircrafts ordered from the manufacturer, with delivery dates in the following several years.
According to Andrey Martirosov, the chief operating officer of UTair, the new Boeings will fulfil the airline’s present-day need of enhancing performance and passenger comfort. In addition, Mr. Martirosov noted that the Boeing 737-800 model is a good investment from an economic standpoint. The new aircraft will also boost fuel efficiency and allow the airline to improve its route network. Customer satisfaction is also expected to go up.
As for Boeing, the vice president for sales in the Middle East, Russia, and Central Asia Mr. Marty Bentrott said that the new planes will allow UTair to provide excellent passenger accommodations and lessen substantially the expenses for keeping the airline’s fleet in operation. The Boeing representative added that the U.S. aircraft manufacturer appreciates its relationship with the Russian airline. The new aircrafts that UTair has purchased are capable of accommodating up to 162 people. The planes boast the manufacturer’s redesigned proprietary “Sky Interior.” The new interior features LEDs and makes use of curved shapes that provide for increased comfort and give a feeling of extra spaciousness for the passengers. The Sky Interior comes complete with overhead storage bins that fold into the ceiling and sculpted sidewalls.
