Vimpelcom third quarter profit falls
Vimpelcom Ltd, a leading global provider of telecom services, has announced its operating and financial results for the third quarter of 2011.
Its net income declined to $104mn, mainly due to non-cash forex related items. This is 79% less than the income it netted a year ago, $496mn.
The pro forma net income fell 77.3%, to $104mn from $460mn, although revenue soared 115.8%, to $6.093bn from $2.824bn in July-September 2010. The pro forma revenue went up 10%, to $6.093bn from $5.519bn.
The revenue of its Russian asset, VimpelCom, in the reporting period grew 8% to RUR69.6bn in rouble terms and 14% in U.S. dollars, to $2.397bn. EBITDA fell 8% to RUR27.852bn and EBITDA margin was down to 40% from 47%. Net operating revenues in U.S. dollars fell 3%, to $961mn from $988mn in 3q10.
Mobile net operating revenues increased 8%, to RUR58.094bn.
