» Oklahoma ranks 4th in the nation for business startups

With business incubators and organizations across the state helping entrepreneurs go from concept to production, as well as easy online access to licensing requirements, business plan templates, and start-up FAQs & guides, Oklahoma’s pro-entrepreneurship environment now ranks 4th in the nation.

Google Inc. has announced plans to invest $600 million to build a data center complex at MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor, Oklahoma. The announcement was made by Lloyd Taylor, Director of Global Operations for Google, and MidAmerica Industrial Park Administrator Sanders Mitchell at an event at MidAmerica, which included Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry.

Despite the long term reduction in U.S. manufacturing jobs, the state’s manufactured exports actually grew over 64% from 2001 to 2006. In 2006, the value of the U.S. dollar depreciated relative to other currencies, stimulating a 14.7% increase in demand for U.S. products by the end of the year.
» 46 Oklahoma companies recognized among the nation’s fastest growing

The 2007 Inc. 5 000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the nation includes 46 Oklahoma companies. Three of those, Diamondback Energy Services, Oklahoma City, Select Engineering, Tulsa, and Perimeter Technology, Oklahoma City, also made the Inc. 500 list, which appears in the Inc. Magazine’s  issue.
