In 2018, NOVATEK’s total revenues amounted to RUB831.8 billion and the normalized EBITDA, including the share in the EBITDA of the entity’s joint ventures, totaled RUB415.3 billion, representing year-on-year increases of 42.6 percent and 61.9 percent, respectively. The increases in total revenues and the normalized EBITDA were largely due to a production launch at the first three LNG trains at Yamal LNG and a favorable macro-economic environment with increases in average realized liquids and natural gas prices.
The profit to be allocated to NOVATEK’s shareholders increased to RUB163.7 billion (RUB54.33 per share), or by 4.7 percent, as compared to 2017. In 2018, the company’s profit was significantly impacted by the recognition of substantial non-cash foreign exchange effects on foreign-currency-denominated loans of the group and its joint ventures (the effect of foreign exchange differences in 2017 was less significant). Excluding the effect of foreign exchange differences, as well as the one-time effect from the disposition of interests in the joint ventures, the normalized profit to be allocated to NOVATEK’s shareholders increased to RUB232.9 billion (RUB77.29 per share), or by 49.2 percent, as compared to 2017.
In 2018, Russian nuclear power plants set new electricity production record of over 204 bln kWh
In 2018, Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom) set a new electricity production record of 204.275 billion kilowatt-hours (bln kWh), accrued cumulative output, and exceeded the record of 2017 (202.868 bln kWh) by more than 1.4 bln kWh. The summary forecast for the balance of production and supply of electric energy over 2018 was fulfilled by 101.46 percent, with the planned indicator of 201.334 bln kWh.
The Kalinin NPP (about 35 bln kWh), the Balakovo NPP (over 31 bln kWh), and the Leningrad NPP (over 28 bln kWh) achieved maximum production, making the greatest contributions to the overall figure for Russian NPPs.
At the present time, the share of nuclear generation in the total energy mix of the country is 18.7 percent of the total electricity generation in Russia. Thus, each fifth electric bulb in Russia is lit with energy produced at a nuclear power plant.
