Gazprom Neft opened up a new field in Serbia with recoverable reserves on the order of 432,000 tons. Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS Oil Company, Serbia, which is the most important international assets of Gazprom Neft) has successfully completed drilling of exploration well Idos-X-4 at the Neogene site. The Idos-Sever (Northern Idos) field has been discovered at a depth of 2,268 to 2,287 meters.

The Idos-X-4 well was constructed based on the company’s own 3D seismic data and its subsequent interpretations. The initial flow rate obtained on well completion totaled 27.8 tons of hydrocarbon production daily. The new field is currently in a pilot development stage. Development drilling at the Idos-Sever field is expected to being in 2017.

Alexei Vashkevich, the head of geological exploration and resource base development at Gazprom Neft commented, “The complexity of developing new hydrocarbon resources in traditional oil and gas areas, such as the Pannonian oil and gas basin, are linked to searching for smaller reserves. Such reserves are characterized by a highly-variable geology and non-traditional traps. Thanks to improved seismic operations and to the collaboration between Gazprom Neft’s Russian and Serbian subsidiaries, the drilling success rates in Serbia reached 83 percent in 2014 and 100 percent in 2015.”
