In November 2016, Bashneft, which recently became a part of Rosneft, increased the volume of oil production at mature fields relative to the corresponding period of the previous year by 0.8 percent. Total production now stands at more than 1.4 million tons at Bashneft’s brownfields. According to Bashneft’s third quarter 2016 results, the same fields showed a 1.2-percent production decline.
These results were the product of extra drilling activity and the commissioning of new wells, mostly horizontal, as well as highly effective geological and technical solutions, including methods to intensify the recovery in the bottom zone.
Mature field production accounted for 78.5 percent of Bashneft’s total oil recovery in the 11-month period from January to November 2016. The transition to production growth is an important development that enhances the company’s performance.
