X5 Retail, the dominant retailer in Russia is set to release a big data strategy towards the fourth quarter of 2017, the company announced on March 24, 2017.
X5 Retail has devised strategies in regard to its principal business operations that cover marketing, supply chain administration, as well as logistics.
According to X5’s marketing strategist Vadim Kapustin, the company realized that a standalone strategy for big data was needed in late 2016. The framework for drafting the new document was laid down in early 2017. The strategy is supposed to encompass information on customer relations, prices, logistics, as well as store functioning.
The retailer collects large quantities of data, applies statistical analysis, and interprets the results in an appropriate manner, Mr. Kapustin indicated.
The company intends to combine the information from the three networks that it operates, including the Pyaterochka, the Perekrestok, and the Karusel chains.
“The amounts of accumulated information are large, and in order to work with them effectively we will expand our staff of data scientists,” X5 Retail’s marketing strategist concluded.
