Food retailer Dixy Group purchases 12 properties in Russia

The Russia-based food retailer Dixy Group purchased 12 properties in Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region. The financial details of the new deal have not been disclosed. The 30,000-square-meter area purchased includes nine properties from the supermarket chain Sedmoy Kontinent.

“Most of these properties will soon change their signs to Victoria’s green apple.”

As a part of the firm’s expansion strategy, this move will expand Dixy’s presence in the region, which now features Victoria, Victoria Kvartal, Dyoshevo, and Cash stores. The new properties will be supervised by the Victoria division.

The Dixy Group’s director general Sergey Belyakov said, “Customers know and love the Victoria brand, and I am pleased that now more Kaliningrad customers will have a chance to use our services and enjoy shopping at our supermarkets.

“Our objective today is to improve the efficiency of operations in the key regions and the announced transaction provides for the implementation of this strategy. “Most of these properties will soon change their signs to Victoria’s green apple.”

The expansion of the Victoria chain is expected to bolster the economic development in the region, as well as to boost employment opportunities.

As of November 30, 2016, Dixy operated a total of 2,788 stores, including 2,634 Dixy convenience stores, 114 Victoria stores, as well as 40 MegaMart and MiniMart hypermarkets. The retailer posted a revenue of RUB272 billion (USD4.4 billion) last year.
