The sintering shop at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) produced the 700-millionth ton of sinter. The first sintering machine at MMK was put into operation in 1937. MMK produced the first 100 million tons of sinter by 1961. Total production reached 200 million tons in 1969. 300 million tons was produced in 1977. By 1996, the plant produced 500 million tons of sinter. Production was up to 600 million in November 2007.
MMK operates three sintering factories with the combined capacity of 11 million tons of sinter per year.
