
Russian oil companies drilled 777,700 meters of exploration wells from January to October of 2016, up 6.6 percent relative to the figure for the corresponding period of the previous year, the Central Dispatch Unit of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK) stated.
Production drilling in the reporting period rose 14.3 percent to 20.931 million meters.
Surgutneftegas drilled 167,600 meters of exploration wells, down 3.7 percent, and 3.865 million meters of production wells, up 6.6 percent, in the relevant timeframe.
Lukoil increased exploration drilling 6.1 percent to 163,000 meters, while production drilling fell 11.1 percent to 2.103 million meters.
Rosneft reported a 70-percent increase in exploration drilling from January to October to 172,000 meters and a 40-percent increase in production drilling to 7.626 million meters.
Bashneft drilled 85,700 meters of exploratory wells, a figure that reflected a 170-percent increase. Production drilling rose 20 percent to 424,200 meters.
Gazprom Neft reduced exploration drilling 54.5 percent to 26,700 meters and production drilling 7.8 percent to 2.201 million meters.
